The Wedding March Proclaims a Grand
Entrance
The Wedding has taken months to prepare
and all the guests have gathered in the chosen setting. This
place is most often chosen because of its serenity and
elegance. Whether they are gathered on the lawn of an
incredible resort, a majestic cathedral or on the beach with
white sand and crashing waves for their backdrop, the bride and
groom have selected the perfect attire for their special day.
The wedding party has been carefully groomed for this festive
celebration knowing that there will be pictures to admire for
years to come. The pastor or judge is ready to officiate the
ceremony.
Traditionally, the wedding march will begin as the guests
wait patiently for the ceremony to begin. The wedding march
signals the crowd that the bride is about to emerge. She most
often is on her father's arm as she walks down the isle to meet
her new husband. As she walks by, the crowd gets a good look at
how gorgeous she looks in her dress on this magnificent
day.
For centuries the Wedding March has been an exciting
way to start weddings
Most people have heard the wedding march which was written
in 1848 by Richard Wagner, a German composer. This glorious
composition is taken from an opera entitled "The Bridal Chorus
from Lohengrin". The opera story lends itself to the
traditional modern wedding even though it was written so many
years ago.
As the wedding march comes to an end the bride and groom
come together for the rest of the ceremony. They will formally
commit their love to each other and conclude with the legal
procedures. This Wedding march has been played at millions of
weddings since Wagoner composed it.
There is no doubt that the march will be played for many
years to come because of it's magnificence. Although a few
couples choose more modern music for their wedding ceremonies,
this spectacular piece is used to introduce the bride in the
majority of weddings around the world.
