American Weddings Are All About
Family
American weddings are a family event
from the time the bride and groom decide to marry, until the
end of the wedding day. The newly engaged couple will rush to
tell their families the good news. Traditionally a party will
be thrown to announce the exciting news to all their friends
and family. This party is most often given by the bride and her
family. The engagement party is a fun time for the bride’s
family and the groom’s family to get acquainted.
Planning Responsibilities
Since the bride’s family is usually responsible for most of
the expenses they are also given the responsibility for most of
the decisions. Often the bride and her mother will do the
planning but will ask the grooms family for their input in some
of the decision making. American weddings are traditionally
held in beautiful churches or synagogues which will offer a
lovely setting for the wedding. Most churches are very helpful
in planning weddings by furnishing the minister, organ and even
an organ or piano player for the wedding.
American Weddings are Ceremonial
The ceremony is the first part of the American Wedding. This
is a romantic observance of commitment to love each other
forever and ever. The wedding ceremony is witnessed by friends
and family. The couple will vow to love and respect each other
for the rest of their lives. The setting is breathtaking and
the entire wedding party is decked out in the finest attire.
The ceremony concludes with a legally binding agreement to be
joined together in marriage until separated by death or
divorce. American weddings are romantic ceremonies and legal
procedures at once.
American Weddings are Parties
After the ceremony the party begins. The bride and groom
meet with their friends and family at a reception. These
parties usually take months and sometimes even more than a year
to plan. This party is a fun time to eat, drink and be merry
with old and new friends, family and associates. The focus of
the entire event is centered on the newly married couple.
Guests have a chance to express their blessings and give gifts
to the bride and groom. American weddings are exciting
celebrations of love that are enjoyed by all.
